Step 8 - Your Scope of Audit

After you have completed your online NDIS Registration application form, you will receive an email with your Scope of Audit.

This contains the information you need to provide to the Auditor in order to receive a quote on the cost.

Each business owner needs to decide which Auditor they would like to use, as this will be a cost to their business. In order to get a quote, you'll need to understand more about the steps and what's involved. Here's some questions, answers and next steps to help you understand more about the steps you will go through to obtain your Audit quote.

What is the Scope of Audit?

It is a summary of your NDIS Registration application. It includes your business contact details, what you are registering for and which parts of National Practice Standards apply. Your scope of Audit lists which Audit Pathway you are on.

Why do I need it?

This helps the Auditor (and you) to understand what the specific work will be to audit your NDIS Registration application.

How do I get my Scope of Audit?

You will receive your Scope of Audit in an email from the NDIS Commission after you have submitted your online application for NDIS Registration.

How do I get a quote for my Audit?

  1. Use the Scope of Audit information as part of your request for a quote on the cost of your Audit.

  2. Locate the list of NDIS Quality Auditors.

  3. Check them all out to determine who you'd like to receive a quote from. You can see where they are based according to their Head Office here.

  4. Call or email your preferred Auditors to request a quote. Include your Scope of Audit so they know more about the detail of your application and what to base their pricing on.

  5. Receive the quotes and then select your preferred choice and engage them to complete your Audit.

What's the Audit Pathway?

The Audit Pathway is determined if you have any Registration Groups that are considered high risk then you are in the Certification Pathway. If you have no high risk registration groups, then you will go through a Verification Pathway. If you haven't read Step 2 in this blog series, you may like to go back and check it out for a more detailed explanation.

Next Steps

Once you have engaged your preferred Auditor, you will then need to set a date for the Audit to be conducted. You will most likely receive an email from your Auditor containing an overview of their Audit process with a list of documentation they require from you. This will help you to be ready when the Audit is to be done. There could be some other steps involved depending on the Audit Pathway you are going through (Verification or Certification). Stay tuned for the next blog where I will provide an Audit Checklist to help you prepare.
